How do we travel? How do we ensure that we and the communities we visit are positively impacted by the exchange that travel brings?
During your journey, you will learn about a model for community development, education, and international partnership rarely practiced in the world. You will dive deep into complex Guatemalan history. You will learn what it means to equitably exchange ideas between people of different contexts. And you will be introduced to some of the most amazing green building ideas and structures in the world.
Days 1-2: Arrive in Guatemala and explore the colonial town of Antigua.
Days 3 -4: Come to the hometown of Long Way Home - San Juan Comalapa.
Learn about its deep history, participate in its vibrant culture through tours and activities, and understand LWH's mission from our Executive Director.
Days 5-6: Build a water tank, stove, or latrine for a family in a nearby village.
Day 7: Make your way to Lake Atitlan, stopping by the Iximche Mayan ruins.
Day 8: Time for some rest and relaxation amidst the Lake's volcanos and lush forest.
Day 9: Back to the airport!
